Treatment For Onychomycosis

Onychomycosis is a disease that affects approximately 8-10% of the total adult population. It is a condition caused by some nail fungus. As compared with other diseases, onychomycosis are not serious, but they are very unsightly and come bundled with other disadvantages.

Pain can rapidly affect all the nails and sometimes antifungal treatments can have unpleasant side effects. If until now the only way was the drug treatment with topical antifungal ointments, or pills. Recently it was found that laser therapy is more effective.

Laser treatment is the only medical treatment with permanent results; it is non-invasive and painless, without having any side effects and promotes new and healthy nail once again. To completely remove the nail mycosis, required 10 sessions, one session once a week.

It is recommended to ask the doctor to make the notification about first signs (color change, displacement, or feeling pain in nails). Laser treatment is performed nearby on the affected nail; the light enters into the nail, managing to destroy germs and eliminate fungus underneath.

Even though the fungus becomes damaged in a few minutes, the results are not instantly visible because it takes quite a few months for the affected nail to grow back with the replacement of new nail healthy tissue. This method of treatment does not require grinding or pulling nails, nor affect tissues or surrounding skin.
